Never Settle, Chase Growth & Own the Outcome
The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will.
We want to make a measurable difference to every client. Getting results requires being systematic, having a clear benchmark, involving different departments, creativity and testing. We can’t settle. Data Story is built off a simple strategy: if we grow our clients, we’ll grow. Your success is our success. Never settle.
For example, if we’re working with a client and not achieving the results we would like to see, we would assess why not (such as product-market fit, strategy, speed, execution) and address the problems, or look at no longer working together.
Take the long way. Do the hard work, consistently and with generosity and transparency. And then you won't waste time doing it over.
We keep ego out of the room. This allows us to be data-driven and less biased. Transparency allows us to put everything on the table. Radical transparency is what allows us to work fast and to get outstanding results.
Every success story is a tale of constant adaption, revision and change.
We never want to execute marketing initiatives without being able to measure how impactful we are. That way nothing is wasted. If an initiative underperforms, we learn what does not perform. If we have the analytics and structure in place, every initiative teaches us what does or does not motivate, distract or hinder. We learn how different layouts, messages or channels perform at certain steps in the customer journey.
The hypothesis mindset allows us to fail, to throw things out there, to get creative. The hypothesis mindset inspires us to design a way to test our ideas. At Data Story we’re always learning and always improving.
Speed Outperforms Perfection
If I fail more than you do, I win.
We don’t spend long finessing and fussing when it's statistically proven that speed outperforms perfection. We move fast. Decisions made quickly can be every bit as good as decisions made cautiously and deliberately. Data insights (unless doing raw data analysis) often come from large trends over context. We focus on the highest impacting areas, not doing technically brilliant work because it makes us feel clever. The focus is on wins, and speed earns wins faster.
People First, Bro
I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.
People are what matter most in this world. We want everyone that comes in contact with Data Story to be better off for it.
